Harajuku Style
This series of characters were influenced by perusing through the second Fruits book (Fresh Fruits) - more of the same sorts of photos, but just as fun! Have always been curious about Japanese Harajuku/Shibuya street style. Here are some images for you.
~ Decora - Multi-layering of fluorescent, rainbow patterned clothes. As long as it is bright and it clashes, the idea is that it will work!!

~ Ganguro are Japanese scallies - boy versions exist too. They are scary and tough. They also love Winnie the Pooh a lot ~ presumably because he is a cute yet orange teddy bear. Fave brand is Alba Rosa with those Hawaiian flowers all over anything (skirts, coats etc)... sometimes they wear shiny stickers on their face with seriously extreme makeup. Then they cross over to the 'Manba' territory... O_o ...You know when you've been Tangoed!
|
~ Lolita-chan; Victorian-inspired traditional dress... usually the clothes are bought from high-fashion shops or boutiques that sell these clothes specifically in Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku. Some kids make their own, others mix and match. Some styles are more extreme than others.

~ Panku-chan; Exactly as described! Cute Harajuku 'gal-panks' are very similar to our very own with short spikey hair, accessories, tartan skirts and lots of black! The shoes can also be found in London, I have seen them in Camden! ^_~
|
~ Visual-chan: While not strictly Visual-Kei, this chara was influenced by the groups of friends who pose for photos (along side most of the other fashionistas depicted here) on the bridge between Yoyogi Park and Takeshita-dori/Harajuku; their choice of costumes are direct replicas of the current album or stage costume their favourite 'Visual' style band wear. Original? Maybe not. Dedicated? Hell yes! Talented? Of course ^o^
