Super Play
In 1992 and 1993, I submitted numerous pieces of artwork on envelopes, some of which were then successfully printed through the UK Super Nintendo magazine, "Super Play", in their letters pages. I was 13-14 years old at the time, and as I loved gaming very much, I thus bought numerous game magazines. There are a few more Super Play scans to come, as I was a dedicated reader of this very fun and colorful magazine! Super Play probably helped a lot of old-skool UK anime and manga fans. As the internet did not exist at this time, information about games, comics and animations from Japan was extremely hard to get hold of. As there were so many anime tie-in games produced for the Super Famicom (the Japanese Super Nintendo), it made sense to feature a lot about this aspect of Japanese popular culture in their pages. I salute you, Super Play!! You made me into who I am today!!! XD in 2001 to 2002 I was asked by Editor Ross Liversidge to create illustrations to the front covers of MVM's Anime Club magazine. I think the magazine is still going! The website still is, at least. |
